Our values determine who we are as an organization:
Our services are delivered through two units: the Special Education Practice and the Learning Centre.
Our clinic offers comprehensive evaluation of special educational and behavioural needs of children with neurodevelopmental and emotional / behavioural disorders that include learning disabilities, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, communication disorders, oppositional defiant disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, to name a few.
Our Learning Centre offers school readiness programs, functional curriculum, and an opportunity to learn the curriculum of the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) at Foundation (class VII and VIII), Secondary (Class IX & X), and Senior Secondary (Class XI & XII) level. Our learning programs are supported by: Individual Education Plans.
The Vigyan Valley Learning Centre started with 7 children in Kochi who were assessed and diagnosed with learning and behaviour problems. They were taught by a team of 4 special educators. The centre adopted the curriculum of the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), Government of India. Children came from some of the very prestigious schools and from other parts of Kerala.
Since then, Vigyan Valley has been identifying and educating children with learning disabilities who have already dropped-out from a regular school or were on the brink of dropping out. The number of children enrolling became 40 from 7 by the end of the first academic year. It rose to 60 soon thereafter. Nine years later, the centre had 150 school dropouts enrolled for fulltime study. Though the initial focus was only on children with special needs, particularly those with learning disabilities, soon children with high functioning autism spectrum disorders, generalized anxiety disorder, bipolar disorders, and traumatic brain injury too enrolled with us for a student-friendly and non-intimidating school environment.
Our values determine who we are as an organization:
We are resourceful, accountable and proactive, using our initiative to achieve positive change and outcomes.
We value teamwork and the strength that comes from diversity and from joining forces to make a difference.
We are professional, competent and driven, striving always to be the best we can be, in everything we do.
We are always reliable and dependable guided by our moral compass.
A decade and a couple of years ago, a few men who shared the passion of a brisk early morning walk realised they had yet another common factor that could bind them together.
